A 2005 Sofia Silva Award Presentation
The Sofia Silva award is given to recognize those K-9 units who have preformed with a determined sense of duty and responsibility by assisting in saving a life.

In 2005 Edwin Grant Wins the Sofia Silva Award

Master Game Warden Edwin Grant, from North Carolina, is a quiet professional. One of the most natural dog handlers INBTI President, Kevin Kocher, has ever had the opportunity to train with. He was presented the Sofia Silva Award for his work on the Eric Rudolph (Olympic Bomber) case. Everyone knows Mr. Rudolph was caught at a trash dumpster, few have heard how his camps were found. Edwin was able to backtrack from the scene of the arrest, to those camps. His actions on that day may have helped save many lives. It reflects his dedication to working Bloodhounds. What is the Sofia Silva Award ?
The Inter-National Bloodhound Training Institute’s Award is our way of bringing honor to the Silva family and Sofia’s memory. Sofia was a child who was taken from us by a serial killer. In her short life, she touched so many people and should never be forgotten. This award will serve to keep not only Sofia’s memory alive, but a reminder of all the children who have been taken from us. This is at the heart of all we train for.
